“The inspiration came directly from Anne herself and her joy and excitement at attending the Cannes Film Festival for the first time while rising to the occasion,” said celebrity makeup artist Florrie White. vogue. She noted how Hathaway felt about getting the star’s fresh and radiant look. “I enhanced her features using technical skills that play with light and shadow instead of covering or masking, to really refine her natural beauty.” White collaborated with stylist Erin Walsh and hairstylist Abir Abergel to put together the entire look.

Abergel gave Hathaway a classic voluminous blowout with a variety of tools: Virtue stylers, his beloved Ibizan boar bristle brush, and metal Velcro rollers. More so, he offers this trick to let rollers cool completely before taking them apart: “Letting your sections cool guarantees you lock in a style.

“I pulled a lot of French ingenue actress references from the early ’60s with great ease of feeling,” Abergel says of Hathaway’s projection look. To complement the white sequined column dress and dazzling jewelry, he perfected the undone, face-framing waves with a 1-inch T3 curling iron, finished with a Virtue hairspray and tousled with the light oil of the brand. For makeup, White created what she considers her favorite type of natural look. She achieved the “clean skin created with [the] technique above with light highlights from the Hourglass Ambient palette” with lashes subtly enhanced at the corners of the eyes by Sisley Paris Phyto-Ombre in Glow Pearl and Topaz.

According to Abergel, Hathaway’s press look was “inspired by the heyday of the ’60s and the simplicity of the supermodel era”. To achieve that noticeable volume at the roots, he turned to Virtue’s Volumizing Primer and Guard Hairspray 6-in-1 Hairspray before going over with a curling iron, then held in place with crease-free pins. “After releasing her crown, I delicately chose pieces to frame her face,” he notes. “I subtly boosted her volume at the crown and using a few U pins I pinned half of her hair back.”

White kept skin fresh by diluting concealer with moisturizer (instead of foundation) to even out skin tone and conceal targeted areas where needed. Otherwise, she applied Sisley Paris Phyto-Rouge Shine in Petal to the lips. “Beneath her glasses, we gave a nod to Catherine Deneuve in the 60s with a soft eye but with a brown liner instead of black to keep it modern and fresh in the sun,” she says.
