A week-long Caesar Festival is coming to Calgary, and you can hunt for the best drink in town

If you consider yourself a Caesar connoisseur, listen to me! A new week-long Caesar Festival is coming to Calgary next week and you can get your hands on Caesars from restaurants and bars across the city and vote for the best in town.

Caesar Week, which has had events in Kelowna and Winnipeg, is heading to the birthplace of the iconic cocktail from August 14-21.

Restaurants from across the city will be participating to showcase their Caesar creations in hopes of being crowned as Calgary’s best.

They also rose to the occasion, offering wild Caesars to thrill your taste buds.

Besides the standard base of a Caesar comprising vodka or gin, Clamato, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, some restaurants have thought of thinking outside the box with certain drinks, including pickle vodka with dill, coffee vodka, flavored ice cubes and celery ice cream scoops.

There’s also a variety of weird and wonderful toppings like candied bacon, spicy pork belly, pickled eggs, and sliders. You could even take a Caesar flight.

The Westin Hotel, which is actually where the very first Caesar was prepared by bartender Walter Chell, is just one of the locations participating in the week-long event.

In addition to trying out the Caesars, you’ll also be able to vote for your favorite concoction on the Caesar Week website.

A full list of participating restaurants and bars and an overview of cocktails can be found on the Caesar Week website.
