First Henderson PRIDE Film Festival Kicks Off on Water Street | News
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – The first-ever Henderson PRIDE Film Festival kicks off Saturday at Water Street Plaza.
The festival is organized by the International Cultural Movement for Equality, The Center and Bursting Through, with the mission of “celebrating cultural diversity and promoting self-awareness”. The ceremony and festival events are free.
“The film festival will present world-class classic LGBTQ + films to a new generation,” said a joint statement from the hosts of the film festival.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday January 8 at 6 p.m., followed by the screening of the 1995 film. To Wong Foo, thank you for everything! Julie newmar with Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo. The event will be hosted by Miss Henderson PRIDE 2021 Reecez Sexton and Keyska Diva from the local Phoenix Bar.
Community resource tables and giveaways will also be at Water Street Plaza on opening night. Participants are kindly requested to RSVP.
On Sunday January 9, the festival will move to the Pass Casino for a screening of the 1996 film The bird cage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. The event starts at 11 a.m. and the film will start at noon. It will be hosted by PRIDE 2021 ambassadors Fanny D. Pack and Vita Summers.
Additional screenings are scheduled at various locations on January 11, 12 and 13, with a final screening at the Center on January 14.
