Bombay (Maharashtra) [India]Apr 02 (ANI): According to Gudi Padwa, no COVID-19 vaccinations will take place at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Government COVID-19 Vaccination Centers (CVC) on Saturday and Sunday, informed the BMC today.
Vaccination will resume in all centers from April 4, BMC added.
“All government BMCs and CVCs will be closed on April 2, Saturday, and April 3, Sunday. All immunization services will resume from April 4, 2022,” BMC tweeted.
Marking the start of the traditional new year, Gudi Padwa is mainly celebrated by the people of Maharashtra and Goa.
The auspicious festival gets its name from two words – ‘gudi’ which is the flag of Lord Brahma and ‘padwa’ which means the first day of the moon phase.
The occasion signals the start of warmer days and the spring season.
The festival is observed with colorful floor decorations, a special Gudhi flag adorned with flowers, mango and neem leaves, and topped with upturned silver or copper vessels, street processions, dances and festive dishes like shrikhand puri.
Gudi Padwa coincides with the first day of Chaitra Navratra and festivals like Sajibu Cheiraoba, Navreh, Cheti Chand and Ugadi which are celebrated in different parts of the country. (ANI)
