MP Manda Mhatre asks for land from land set aside for cultural purposes in Belapur village

Navi Bombay: Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre has requested to set aside Ram Janmotsav Land, Playground, Samaj Mandir and Market in Belapur village and they are expected to be handed over to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in a CIDCO MD meeting, Dr Sanjay Mukherjee.

On occasion, former mayor Jaywant Sutar, CIDCO officials Panashikar, Parab, Aparna Vedule and other officials were present. Mhatre said CIDCO MD Mukherjee responded positively at the meeting and ordered the relevant officers to submit the proposal.

MP Mhatre said, “Traditional festivals are celebrated in Belapur village even before the existence of CIDCO. Every year, the Ram Navami festival celebrated in the village is known as the biggest festival in Thane district. As the land is under the control of the villagers, the villagers have not allowed anyone to encroach on the land till date. If the land is set aside for traditional festivals and handed over to the NMMC, the villagers will be able to enjoy it.
