Pakistan Festival begins with colorful activities in Orakzai
HANGU: A colorful two-day festival was launched to mark Pakistan Day in Kalaya, the seat of the Orakzai tribal district, on Tuesday.
Organized by the Orakzai Scouts, a wing of the paramilitary Frontier Corps, the inaugural ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding the 9th Division, Major General Akif Iqbal, Orakzai Deputy Commissioner Asif Rahim, l District Police Officer Nisar Ahmad Khan, Orakzai Scouts Commander Roy Kashif Amin and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Akif Iqbal and Deputy Commissioner Asif Rahim said that tribesmen, police and security forces have made unparalleled sacrifices for the restoration of peace in the region.
They said that our ancestors’ decision to demand a separate homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent was vindicated on Pakistan’s Resolution Day on March 23, 1940.
They praised the services and sacrifices of the tribesmen in the creation of Pakistan, saying that the dream of achieving a separate homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent would not have come true if the tribesmen had not not played their vital role in the freedom movement.
Officials added that Orakzai has tremendous beauty, which would be developed to promote tourism and sports activities in the area.
Earlier, officials cut the ribbon and officially opened the Pakistan Festival. The festival features traditional music, games and food, crafts, cultural items, military, Rescue 1122 and police gadgets.
