Coinciding with the start of the Christmas shopping season, leaders of the Ransomville business community are throwing the welcome mat to residents of the River area to visit the hamlet this Sunday, November 28.

On this day, the Ransomville Festival Parade will take place along Ransomville Road. Event organizer Ruth Ann Buzzard reports that the afternoon event opens with cookie decorating and crafts from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ransomville Free Library, 3733 Ransomville Road. The parade itself begins at 3 p.m. and continues down the street to the Hardison Funeral Home.

Expected to be led by New York State Police, the parade will showcase Ransomville pride, with organizations such as O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Post 830, Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. Ransomville Garden Club, singers “Step in Time”, Ransomville Speedway, Rob and Jean of RK Motorsports, Farmers Feed America and Santa’s Sleigh Team all participate.

Activities to discover include a depot of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection at the Ransomville fire station; a walk in pictures featuring “The Gingerman Story” and the Ransomville Garden Club Gingerbread House; and children’s events featuring the bells and flags of Santa’s sleigh team and all of his reindeer.

Buzzard said the little ones will be able to visit Santa after the parade at 3:30 p.m. at the Ransomville Fire Hall, where there will be photo opportunities for the little ones with Santa. Also watch out for wreath judgment, as well as free cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee.

The event is open to the public. Everyone is invited to stop.
