Rs 6 lakh Maruti car to shake up the market » MotorOctane
Who does not know the Maruti Alto in India? It’s a car that has continued to go strong for the last 20 odd years. But like everything else, change is needed in this world. Maruti is therefore working on the introduction of the new generation of Alto. It has already been spotted a few times during tests. So we have a good idea of what the new Alto could offer. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Rs 6 lakh Maruti car.
The next-gen Alto is expected to be based on Maruti’s Heartect platform. In addition, the new Alto should especially see an increase in its dimensions. Previous spy shots have indicated an increase in height. With improved dimensions, we expect to see more space in the interiors.
Rs 6 lakh Maruti Car – New Design
The new Alto will benefit from a refreshed exterior design. From the spy photos, it appears to have a more rounded design like the new Celerio. What else can we expect? Other regular changes like a new grille, headlights and taillights are expected. Will it have alloy wheels like the new Celerio? Only time will tell.
Interiors and features
The new Alto should benefit from a reworked interior design. Still, the Alto is an entry-level car, and we can’t expect many changes. It could get a better infotainment system, all power windows, a digital dash, etc. What about security features? This is where we can see big changes. The government has made six airbags compulsory for all cars from October. This put Maruti in a very difficult position. Why do you ask? We’ve covered that in the article which you can check out by clicking the link below.
Rs 6 lakh Maruti car – New specs
The next-gen Alto is expected to continue with an 800cc engine, but with slight updates to fuel efficiency. So could the specs be updated? Maruti may bring back the 1.0-liter K10C it uses on the new Celerio. This engine is capable of producing 66 hp and 89 Nm of torque. But another aspect of this engine is that Maruti can bring back an AMT option on the Alto. If that happens, it could become the cheapest automatic car in India. Would you consider an Alto AMT? Let us know in the comments.
Launch and pricing
So now, coming to the big question, when does it happen? According to reports, Maruti might launch it during the festive season. What about pricing? We expect the price of the new Alto to start from Rs 4 lakh and increase to Rs 6.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
