UT Rose Festival Draws Thousands of People on Day 2, Event Ends Today

THOUSANDS of people thronged Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Sector 16 on Saturday for the second day of the Chandigarh Rose Festival-2022.

On Saturday, the live performance of famous Punjabi Sufi singer Lakhwinder Wadali and a magic show by Pardeep Kumar were the most sought-after events of the day as crowds thronged in their dozens to enjoy the festival.

On Saturday, more than 20 elderly people were brought to Rose Festival by police personnel from Sector 17 Police Station. SHO PS 17 Inspector Om Parkash said: “Specific instructions were given to us by senior officers to bring seniors from various sectors at the Rose Garden. More than 20 elderly people were brought in by battalion police personnel. All attended the evening cultural program. Later they were taken home by our staff.

Hundreds of varieties of roses, in different hues decorating the landscape, breathtaking flower arrangements, innovative new designs and exotic displays are the highlights of the festival with events such as rangoli competitions, brass competitions and bagpipes, an exhibition of floral hats, a photography exhibition and a cultural evening. also adding their own unique charm to the event.

On Saturday, the organizers announced the results of the winners in numerous categories. The winners will receive their prizes at the closing ceremony on Sunday. At least five cultural programs – a classical performance by Swar Ragini Mestro Pt. Subhash Ghosh, a stand-up show by comedian Vijay Kumar (Khayaali), Punjabi Folk Songs, Brij Ke Geet and Mayur Dance by renowned artists from Mathura, cast Awards and a live Sufi/folk performance by singer Dr. Mamta Joshi are scheduled for the closing day.

Sunday will be the last day of the Rose Festival, with police expecting a very heavy rush on the closing day as it ends with the weekend.
Police sources said adequate security arrangements, including traffic management, have been put in place for Sunday.
